New Delhi: After four dramatic clashes, the 2024 Olympics Men’s football has reached the semi-final stage, with two games scheduled for Monday, August 5. All teams have been impressive during the U-23 tournament, with young talents taking on challenges. The first four games of the knockout stages have been full of drama.
Teams that are featuring in the semi-finals
France have qualified from Group A, moving into the semi-finals, winning all three games in their group stage. They were drawn against Argentina to play in the quarter-finals. The clash was dramatic, given the two sides have been fierce competitors in the international arena in recent times. In what has been called France’s revenge for losing to Argentina in the World Cup finals in 2022, Le Bleus won the match 1-0. The game was followed by some on-field clashes, which led to Enzo Millot’s suspension in the semis.

Qualifying from Group C as table-toppers, Egypt have ensured that at least one Olympic football medal is coming Africa’s way. During the group stages, they won twice and drew once. In the quarter-finals against Paraguay, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, resulting in a penalty shootout which Egypt won 5-4.
Spain have been in brilliant form lately. Though this isn’t the team that won the Euros 2024 a month ago, they surely have been in equally good form. They secured their knockout appearance with their wins in the first two games. Despite losing their final group game, Spain ensured they were the second team to qualify from Group C. They won their quarter-final clash against Japan 3-0.
In the first semi-final, the dominating Morocco will face the high-on-confidence Spain, while in the second game, the dangerous-looking France will face the undefeated Egypt side.
