New Delhi: The Paris Olympics and Paralympics 2024 are going to transform the Olympic Village into a food fair with the world’s largest restaurant set up where over 200 chefs will be preparing 13 million plus meals at the restaurant. This monumental culinary project will cater to 15,000 athletes from 208 countries, featuring an array of diverse dishes and cuisine including French, Asian, Afro-Caribbean, and other international.

In a significant collaboration for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Hélène Defrance, nutritionist and former Olympic sailor, worked alongside the culinary team to craft the menu. Her extensive knowledge of nutrition and her experience as an elite athlete were crucial in shaping a meal plan that addresses the specific dietary requirements of the athletes. This partnership aimed to create a dining experience that not only supports the athletes’ performance but also delivers a range of enjoyable and flavourful meals.

Sustainable culinary delights at Olympics 2024

The chefs at the Olympics this year are more focused towards reducing the carbon footprints of the food and are curating sustainable dishes to save the environment and reduce carbon emissions. This initiative involves a commitment to sourcing a significant portion of the ingredients for the Olympic and Paralympic Games meals, with a quarter of all ingredients being procured from farms and producers located within a 250-kilometre radius of Paris. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on sustainability and health, as 20 per cent of the ingredients are chosen for their organic certification.

Famous chefs Amandine Chaignot and Alexandre Mazzia have crafted signature dishes that honour traditional French culinary practices while incorporating local ingredients. The multi-variety dishes are carefully curated to meet the nutritional needs of the athletes with classic French flavours with modern approaches to support optimal performance and health.

Top French chefs Amandine Chaignot, Alexandre Mazzia, and Akrame Benallal have been selected to develop a menu of signature dishes that seamlessly combine traditional French cuisine with the dietary needs of the athletes. Their culinary creations include dishes like lentil dal with skyr and roasted French poultry with langoustine bisque, showcasing the best of French culinary traditions while providing nutritious and satisfying meals for the world’s foremost athletes.

The Olympic Village will keep only sustainability in mind by featuring 200 water, juice, and soda fountains and all dining will use reusable crockery and cups. With the Paris 2024 Olympics, a new standard is being set for merging environmental responsibility with gourmet dining, offering athletes meals that are both nourishing and delightful.

A meal for visitors to enjoy

There are a lot of options and variety available for visitors to enjoy. A part of the Eiffel Tower is reworked to be converted into a restaurant named Gustave 24, giving a view of the event. A commercial kitchen will be airlifted into the Palais de Tokyo catering to the food court from baos to gazpacho.
