Sportspersons with their exquisite prowess not only bring laurels to a nation but manage to ignite a wave for all the sporting enthusiasts. The recently-c0ncluded Paris Olympics has managed to ignite a similar wave of sporting enthusiasm among the youth in India, who are now considering sports as a career option and have started to think beyond usual.
Surge in sports training centres across India
As per a latest analysis on consumer search trends, the search for various sports training facilities has witnessed a substantial increase during the Summer Games period as compared to the previous months. According to Justdial, nationwide searches for sports training centres experienced a massive 110 percent increase during the sporting extravaganza. This surge was particularly pronounced in metropolitan cities, with a 133% increase in searches compared to non-metropolitan areas, which saw a 92% rise.
As far as the major cities are concerned, national capital Delhi witnessed a 157% increase while Mumbai saw a 171% rise. Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad recorded 203%, 60%, 69% and 94% surge. Cities like Kolkata and Ahmedabad also saw a significant increase of 224% and 154% respectively. In non-metropolitan areas, the trend was equally impressive, with Dehradun reporting a 281% increase, Patna at 263%, and Guwahati at 246%.
The Neeraj Chopra impact
Among the sporting categories that saw an impressive spike, Javelin throw witnesses an outstanding 825% increases in search, for which the credit goes to star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra who bagged a silver medal at the showpiece event. Meanwhile, Pistol shooting and rifle shooting training centres also experienced significant growth with searches increasing by 282% and 230%, respectively.
