Pep Guardiola accuses critics of wanting Manchester City out of the top-tier football

New Delhi:  With Manchester City fighting 115 Premier League charges, manager Pep Guardiola feels it is because critics of the club want them to “disappear”. City have denied all allegations made against them. Their hearing started in front of an independent commission in London last Monday.

As City hosts Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League game, Guardiola spoke unmediated about the ongoing investigation. Answering a question about his team’s goalless draw in the opening game of the UEFA Champions League, City’s manager pointed out that everyone wants City to fail and not just be relegated from the Premier League but completely disappear.

Pep Guardiola: “I’m sorry to be sometimes arrogant and I want to defend my club, especially in this modern day, like everyone is expecting us to be not just relegated, but to disappear off the face of the earth, in the world…”

City have said that the evidences cannot deny them justice. Guardiola echoed the same opinion and has maintained that he will continue to support his team irrespective of the outcome.

Regarding the club’s continued success, Guardiola said they have had better days than their opponents on more occasions. That is why the team was able to push continually and win consistently. Since Guardiola took over, City has been one of the most dominating teams in the English League, with 17 trophies across competitions. However, if the ongoing investigation goes against them, they could face points deduction or banishment from the league.

City started their weekend as leaders of the points table and now face Arsenal, who was second to them at the start of the week with a gap of just two points. Arsenal were runners-up last season, and Guardiola isn’t taking them lightly. The 53-year-old manager has admitted the team has some great players who move well in the pockets.

As City host the Gunners in the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola admitted that they will give fierce competition with stars on their bench and are a complete side. Guardiola said that it would be an epic game of football as City are no less a good side.

The Manchester City manager said that critics want the club to get relegated from the Premier League. The remarks come amidst ongoing investigation against City with 115 charges against them.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
