PM Internship Scheme 2024 last date: How to apply for registration to the scheme

The window for registering for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme 2024 is closing on Sunday, November 10, 2024. It is an opportunity for aspiring candidates to include their names in the list of registration through the portal pminternship.mca.gov.in. The target of the scheme is to take about 10 million youths through the initial stages of professional development. The pilot project this year aims at creating 1.25 lakh internships.

The scheme wants to create internship opportunities in both domains manufacturing and service sectors. These would typically span across no fewer than two dozen sectors some of which are energy, oil, gas, travel, hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services.

Who are eligible for PM Internship Scheme 2024

According to official communication, the initial scheme would include internships of 12-month duration. Only those between 21 years and 24 years can be absorbed through this project. The target of the scheme is Indian nationals, who are not working full-time job or not pursuing full-time educational courses. However, those who are pursuing online or distance learning programs can apply for this internship.

Those youths who have passed High School or Higher Secondary examination, or possess a certificate from an ITI (Industrial Training Institute), or have a diploma from a polytechnic can apply. Those who have graduated with BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma degrees are also eligible to apply.

How to apply for PM Internship Scheme 2024

Visit the portal pminternship.mca.gov.in. Click on “Register”
Enter details and press “submit”
You can select a maximum of 5 sectors and apply specifying sector, location and functional role.
Press “submit”. You should download the confirmation and take printouts

Who are not eligible to apply

According to a statement from the Press Information Bureau, graduates from IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), IIMs (Indian Institute of Management), National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, and IIITs cannot apply under this internship programme. Holders of professional qualifications such as CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, or any master’s or higher degree, too, cannot apply.

Besides, those who are going through skill, apprenticeships, internships, or student training under any scheme of the Central or State government are barred from applying. If you have gone through an apprenticeship under National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), you cannot apply. Any family member of a permanent government employee, too, cannot apply. If the youth belongs to a family, the annual income of any member of which is more than Rs 8 Lakh (for FY24), he/she cannot apply.
