It was no surprise after Pep Guardiola had confirmed that all three signings would feature in their Premier League fixture against Chelsea tonight. Both Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush will be starting the game with the defender partnering with Josko Gvardiol in that centre-back role, while Matheus Nunes will be playing off position at Left back and Akanji completing the back four at Right back position.
If we look at the offensive side of Manchester City, Marmoush will be played in the central role, right behind Haaland as an attacking midfielder probably roaming a little more up the field as a second striker. It will be interesting to see how he collaborates with Bernardo Silva on his right and Foden on his left flank.
It is an interesting lineup picked by Pep Guardiola, especially at the back where he has shown his confidence on Matheus Nunes yet again, playing him as a left-back. However, this is the place where Chelsea can really exploit the home side as Nunes clearly didn’t have the best night at Paris in the Champions League. At the same time, we haven’t seen enough of Marmoush playing as an offensive midfielder, which suggests that we can’t really predict much about his involvement upfront in tonight’s Premier League clash.
As for Chelsea, it seems like they have gone with their strong eleven, and to be fair, you can’t blame Enzo Maresca for that. It is clear that he wants his players to go all in for those three points after a few inconsistent fixtures in the league. However, it is a must-win situation for both sides with the race to the top cour heating up. City have shown their vulnerabilities this season, but if we look back at the reverse fixture, they managed to win it comfortably, 2-0, in the opening game of the campaign.
As expected Manchester City have started Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush against Chelsea while Pitor Reis has been put on bench. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
