New Delhi: Taste Atlas, a popular website that guides people on food and travel, has just announced its annual awards. As part of these awards, they made a list of the ‘ 100 Best Food Regions in the World‘, for their delicious food. The list announces the best regions in the world that people love for their food, and Punjab Tops the chart of the top 10. India has earned a notable distinction in the culinary world, with Punjab securing an impressive seventh position globally in the prestigious list.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the rich culinary heritage and excellence of Indian cuisine, which has been recognised and honoured on a worldwide platform. The inclusion of Punjab in the top ten list is a matter of great pride for India, highlighting the diversity and richness of its gastronomic traditions.
The top six positions were secured by Campania (Italy), Peloponnese (Greece) Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Sichuan (China), Cyclades (Greece), and Crete (Greece) respectively. Taste Atlas has revealed the methodology behind its rankings, providing transparency into the process. According to the organization, the rankings were determined by a staggering 477,287 accurate ratings, which were collected and analysed properly. These ratings encompassed an impressive 15,478 distinct foods, showcasing the vast scope and diversity of the Taste Atlas database.
Punjab ranks 7th on ‘100 Best Food Regions in the World’ list
Punjab’s impressive ranking is a testament to great flavours, rich culture and food heritage which gave birth to a variety of delicious and world-famous dishes. These beloved culinary delights, including tikka, Amritsari kulcha, saag paneer, shahi paneer, and tandoori murgh, have contributed to Punjab’s well-deserved recognition.
The famous eateries in Punjab which have contributed to making its name to the world and provide global recognition are Haveli, Kesar da Dhaba, Bharawan Da Dhaba, Bade Bhai ka Brothers Dhaba, and Crystal Restaurant – the top places to not miss when in Punjab.
While Punjab topped the Top 10 chart, other regions of India, also secured places in the list for some of the great food contributions to the world. Other Indian states also made it to the global list, with Maharashtra ranking 41st, famous for dishes like misal pav and pav bhaji. West Bengal followed at 54th, known for delicacies like chingri malai curry and ras malai. Southern India secured the 59th position, featuring popular dishes like masala dosa, Hyderabadi biryani, and madras curry.
