New Delhi: Former India head skipper and coach Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay smashed his maiden century for Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy on Friday, December 13. His hundred played a crucial role in Karnataka taking the first-innings lead against Jharkhand Under-16 at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu.
Arya Gowda and captain Dhruv Krishnan stitched a 229-run partnership for the first wicket in reply to Jharkhand’s 387. Both openers smashed a brilliant hundred. Anvay came to bat No.4 and remained unbeaten on 100 off 153 balls. He smacked two maximums and 10 boundaries during the blistering knock.
This was Anvay’s third innings in the Vijay Merchant Trophy which started last week. He scored 75 runs in the last two innings, including a half-century. He captained Karnataka’s Under-14 team last year.

He made headlines after scoring a stunning half-century in the semi-final of the BTR Shield Under-14 Group I in 2020. Anvay fell just 10 runs short of his century in the tournament.
Anvay’s elder brother also played for Karnataka
Samit Dravid also represented Karnataka successfully in the age-group tournaments over the years. He was named in the India Under-19 squad for the series against Australia U19 at home in September. But he could not feature in the series due to a knee injury. Samit will also miss out on the 2026 Under-19 World Cup after having turned 19 recently.
He scored 362 runs and picked up 16 wickets in eight matches during Karnataka’s title-winning campaign in the Cooch Behar Trophy earlier this year. Samit also played for Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja T20 Trophy in August. He amassed 82 runs at a strike rate of 113 in 7 matches.
