New Delhi: Delhi off-spinner Shivam Sharma powered the hosts to an innings and 19-run victory in their final group stage match against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. The match was wrapped on the third day of the match where the centre of attraction was former Indian captain Virat Kohli.

Although the veteran player of 123 Tests didn’t play any impactful innings, determined knocks from captain Ayush Badoni (99) and Sumit Mathur (86) helped Delhi to post 133-run lead in the first innings. Shivam bowled a tremendous spell of 5 for 33 to inflict a skittle of the Railways batting order. He accounted the scalps of Vivek Singh, Mohammad Saif, Karn Sharma, Himanshu Sangwan, and Rahul Sharma to complete his third five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

While mentioning about his feat in the post-match social media post, Shivam posted pictures with the Delhi team, including a separate one with Kohli, and most importantly with the red-ball, the memento of his match-winning spell, which had an autograph by the senior man in the side.

“This 5 wicket haul will always be close to my heart. Legend himself Virat Kohli bhaiya  (big brother) signing the ball for me made it more special. God is great and kind,” Shivam wrote in the caption of his X post, where he also tagged Kohli.

Despite the win against Railways and managing to grab the point, Delhi won’t progress to the knockout stage as Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu confirmed their berths from Group D after finishing the pool stage with 25 points each whereas Delhi ended at 21 points. Delhi ended their campaign with two wins, two losses, and three draws.

Delhi’s Shivam Sharma spearheaded their innings and 19-run victory over Railways in the Ranji Trophy, claiming a five-wicket haul. His impressive performance was further celebrated with an autographed match ball from Virat Kohli. Despite the win, Delhi failed to qualify for the knockout stage.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
