New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a historic victory in the last league match of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Tuesday against Lucknow Super Giants confirming the second spot on the points table. RCB finish second, to lock horns with PBKS
With the impressive victory, RCB finished second on the points table for the first time since 2016. They ended the group stage with 19 points, the same as Punjab, but the net run rate of 0.30 put them behind the table-toppers. the Royal Challengers have booked a date with Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 on Thursday while Gujarat Titans will lock horns against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Friday.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant smashed 118 runs to lift the hosts to a mammoth total of 227/3. RCB’s reply was more solid as Virat Kohli and Phil Salt laid the foundation for the away team followed by a rollicking knock of unbeaten 85 by stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal (41*) to see the side home with eight balls to spare. This was Bengaluru’s highest run-chase in the tournament’s history and one of the most memorable chase ever in the tournament.
