New Delhi: Vinod Kambli’s wife Andrea Hewitt revealed she filed for divorce with the former India batter in 2023 but decided to take it back after seeing the ‘helpless’ state of her husband. Andrea opened up about the significant challenges she has faced in her marriage with Kambli due to his alcohol addiction and how it has adversely impacted their relationship.
Andrea, a former model, is Kambli’s second wife. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in a court in 2006 and have two children. Kambli’s struggles with his alcohol addiction are well known and the former India batter has undergone rehab as many as 14 times over the years. He has also developed multiple health issues due to his alcohol addiction but has managed to overcome the hurdles with support from his wife and his family.
Andrea candidly discussed the struggles she had to overcome in her marriage with Kambli and their strained relationship during an interaction with journalist Suryanshi Pandey on her podcast. Andrea said she did contemplate separating from the former cricketer in 2023 but was constantly worried about his well-being which prompted her to come back.
“I once thought about it (separating). But I realised that he would be helpless if I leave him. He is like a child, and that hurts me. It makes me feel worried. I would not even leave a friend, and he is obviously more than that,” Hewitt said on the podcast.
“I remember there were moments when I would just walk away. But then I would be worried: Has he eaten or not? Is he on the bed properly? Is he okay? Then I had to check on him, and I would understand that he needed me,” she added.

Andrea accused Kambli of domestic violence and filed a police case against him in February 2023. She alleged Kambli allegedly threw a cooking pan, injuring her head while intoxicated during an argument between the couple. Andrea was reportedly living separately for months before eventually returning back to her husband.
Andrea praised her son Jesus Christiano Kambli for his understanding of the situation and for providing support to her mother in the difficult times. She said her son would understand her emotions by looking at her face and would never bother her.
Kambli and Andrea were recently spotted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic stadium. Andrea was spotted helping her husband walk after he was recently discharged from a hospital following his treatment. Kambli was admitted after complaining of cramps due to a urinary infection. He was later diagnosed with brain clotting among other issues.
