New Delhi: Did Rohit Sharma really complaint about the legendary Sunil Gavaskar to the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) regarding the batting legend’s criticism of the Indian skipper during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia? A report recently made an audacious claim that Rohit lodged a formal complaint about Gavaskar to the BCCI as the former India captain’s criticism didn’t sit well with him.
In the report published in Cricblogger, a website run by a former journalist, it was claimed that Rohit believed ‘external factors’ contributed to his poor performance in the Australia Test series. Many have questioned the authenticity of the claims made in the viral report as Rohit has always enjoyed a great rapport with Gavaskar, a Mumbai legend.
Gavaskar too has rarely shied away from showcasing his soft corner for Rohit during his commentary stints. Thus, many have found it hard to believe that a player of Rohit’s stature, who is also an active Indian captain, will go to the extent of formally complaining about one of the greats of Indian cricket purely because he didn’t like a few lines he spoke on commentary.
Clip of Rohit’s recent cordial meet with Gavaskar goes viral
Amid the debate over the viral report, a clip has gone viral on social media where Rohit can be seen cordially meeting Gavaskar during an event in Mumbai. The clip is from the event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where Rohit and Gavaskar were present along with a host of notable names from Mumbai and Indian cricket earlier this month.
In the video, Rohit can be seen meeting Gavaskar and shaking hands with the batting legend after spotting him in the front row with other guests. Gavaskar too met Rohit with a big smile on his face, suggesting that there was no bad blood between the two whatsoever.
Rohit Sharma literally ignored Shami, Manjrekar, Jay shah and female cricketers but shake hands with Sunil gavaskar and they think Rohit sharma filed a complaint against him.

Both Rohit and Gavaskar are yet to address the matter and it remains to be seen if the claims made in the report are authentic. Rohit will return to action when he leads India in their upcoming three-match ODI series against England which gets underway on February 06. Rohit pulled out of Mumbai’s clash against Meghalaya starting Thursday, January 30 to focus on preparations for the ODI series against England.
An old clip of Rohit Sharma meeting Sunil Gavaskar at a recent event has caught the attention of fans on social media after a viral report sensationally claimed that the Indian captain has registered a complaint against the India legend over his criticism.
