New Delhi: India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final and ended the 11-year ICC trophy drought. After the win Indian captain Rohit Sharma mimicked former WWE legend Ric Flair’s iconic walk as he made his way to collect the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was also present at the podium to hand over the trophy to the Indian captain. Rohit Sharma ensured to live the moment thoroughly and performed Ric Flair’s strut. Flair is one of the most iconic wrestling personalities in the world and he was a big star in the ’70s and ’80s. His iconic strut is still remembered by many WWE fans.
The Men in Blue made a brilliant comeback against South Africa to clinch their second T20 World Cup title. The Proteas men were in control, needing a run a ball to win their maiden T20 World Cup title, but Hardik Pandya, Bumrah and Arshdeep pulled things back in India’s favour and ended their long-standing ICC trophy drought.
Flair took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to react to Rohit Sharma emulating his iconic walk. He wrote “Rohit Sharma taking a page out of my playbook! WOOOOO!”.
