New Delhi: Rishabh Pant emulated the legendary MS Dhoni as he became only the third Indian wicket-keeper to complete 150 dismissals in Test cricket. Pant achieved the remarkable feat on Day 2 of the ongoing third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Sunday. Pant completed 150 dismissals after taking Usman Khawaja’s catch to hand India their first breakthrough on Day 2.
Jasprit Bumrah struck early on Day 2 after Australia resumed their first innings from 28/0. The Indian pacer got rid of Khawaja with a brilliant delivery on the first ball of the 17th over as the left-hander edged one to Pant, who made no mistakes with the catch. The catch took Pant’s tally of dismissals to 150 in the longest format.
Pant became only the third Indian wicket-keeper after Dhoni and Syed Kirmani to reach 150 dismissals in Tests. Dhoni finished with an impressive 294 dismissals in 90 Tests while Kirmani effected 198 dismissals in 88 Test matches. Pant has managed to complete 150 dismissals in 41 Test matches in his career so far.
