Rishabh Pant wins best fielder medal after T20 World Cup semi-final win over England – WATCH

New Delhi: Rishabh Pant received the ‘Best Fielder’ medal as India defeated England by 68 runs in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue avenged their 2021 T20 World Cup semi-final loss against English side.

India’s fielding coach T Dilip praised the whole team’s effort saying that their coordination was seamless on the ground and every gap was covered brilliantly, so they could achieve more in a group. Dilip praised Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, and Axar Patel for shifting into the hot zones that was “so commendable.”

Three contenders were:

SKY– He was running all to the hot zones, but also accurate with his backhand flick to get the run-out.

Kuldeep Yadav– He was praised by the fielding coach as whenever bowlers made it to the list it’s a big pride, Kuldeep’s positive body language in the run-out was great.

Rishabh Pant– The pitch had odd bounce, some balls were kicking up and some were down, and the game awareness on Moeen Ali’s run-out was superb and every time he was behind the stumps, he was commendable.

Indian former wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Kartik was the special guest in the ceremony. Kartik jokingly said, “Is the fielding medal ceremony downgraded?” after great Sir Vivian Richards gave the award in the previous match. All the players shared a great laugh together.

Kartik awarded “Best Fielder” medal to Rishabh Pant for his brilliance behind the stumps. He also lauded Pant’s comeback in the cricket after the tragic incident. He also praised Team India’s performance in the semi-final as two years ago the same opponent gave us a heartbreak in the semis, but this time we were well prepared and avenged our loss.
