New Delhi: In one of the interesting stories from the world cricket, a son breaks his father’s record. Yes, you heard it right. The news comes from Brisbane and it is former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff’s son Rocky Flintoff to script the achievement.

In the ongoing match between Cricket Australia XI and England Lions, Rocky Flintoff scored his maiden century in the England Lions’ shirt on Day 2. Coming to bat in at No.9, Flintoff scored 108 off 127 balls to help his team gain a 102-run lead in the first innings. The right-handed batter struck nine boundaries and six sixes to lift the morale of the visitors after they were reeling at 161 for 7.

At the age of 16 years and 291 days, Rocky became the youngest cricketer to score a maiden first-class hundred for England A or England Lions. The teenager went on to surpass his father Andrew Flintoff, who had been holding the record since 1998. Andrew scored his first century against Kenya in Nairobi at the age of 20 years and 28 days.

Rocky Flintoff, who has played four first-class matches for Lancashire, was involved in a 66-run partnership with Freddie McCann for the eighth wicket before adding another crucial 72 runs for the last-wicket stand with  Mitchell Stanley.

Earlier in the England Lions innings, skipper Alex Davies scored 76 to give a remarkable start for the team and McCann (51) followed it up with a well-constructed innings. Tom Whitney was the most successful bowler from Cricket Australia XI, mustering figures of 4 for 72.  The hosts were reduced to 33 for 1 in 15 overs at the end of the day’s play, trailing by 69 runs. England Lions bowled out Cricket Australia XI for 214 in the first innings.
