New Delhi: Indian batters continued their supremacy in the ICC ODI rankings as Rohit Sharma moved up two places to third spot in the latest rankings released by the world cricket’s governing body on Wednesday. Rohit jumped to third following a superb half-century in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy against New Zealand in Dubai on March 09, Sunday.

Rohit played a captain’s knock and hit 76 from just 83 deliveries to set up India’s victory in the decider. He was named Player of the Match as India claimed their third ICC Champions Trophy title and second ICC trophy in a year.

Young sensation Shubman Gill remains at the top of the ODI batting charts after his Champions Trophy exploits.

Three Indian batters in the top 5

Virat Kohli (fifth) is the third Indian batter inside the top five. The star batter showcased his batting prowess with a superb century against Pakistan and a crucial half-century against Australia, finishing the tournament with 218 runs to his name.

Kiwi trio Daryl Mitchell (up one spot to sixth), Rachin Ravindra (up 14 places to 14th) and Glenn Phillips (up six spots to 24th) also progressed in the latest rankings for ODI batters.

Their teammate and captain Mitchell Santner made a big gain in the updated list for ODI bowlers.

Santner makes big gain in bowling charts

Santner, who led New Zealand to the final, picked up nine wickets in the tournament. The left-arm spinner rose six spots to second in the bowling charts.

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana remains at the top spot in the ODI rankings for bowlers. Other movers in men’s ODI bowler rankings include Kiwi spin bowling allrounder Michael Bracewell (up 10 rungs to 18th), Indian left-armer Kuldeep Yadav (up three places to third) and Ravindra Jadeja (up three spots to 10th).

Kuldeep bagged seven wickets while Jadeja picked up five scalps for the Men In Blue during their unbeaten run in the showpiece tournament.

In the rankings for ODI all-rounders, Afghanistan star Azmatullah Omarzai retained his top spot. Santner moved a rung to take the fourth spot, Bracewell gained seven places to move to seventh, while Ravindra climbed eight places to reach the eighth place.
