Sachin Tendulkar as India batting consultant for Australia Tests: ‘Worth a thought?’

New Delhi: Former India cricketer Woorkeri Venkat Raman, better known as WV Raman, has blown up the cricket community with a wild suggestion on social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter) as he is vouching for the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to help Team India in the capacity of a batting consultant in their preparations for the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).

Raman suggested that Tendulkar’s expertise could benefit India and also pointed out that as there’s enough time before the second Test, his involvement in the squad could be impactful. “I think that #TeamIndia could benefit if they have the services of #Tendulkar as the batting consultant in their prep for the #BGT2025. Enough time between now and the 2nd test. Roping in consultants is rather common these days. Worth a thought?” Raman wrote on X.

The stakes are at an all-time high as India gear up to take on Australia in a series that comes at a crucial time in the ongoing cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025. Australia and India are the top two teams in the current WTC standings. However after India were whitewashed 3-0 by New Zealand, the chances of the Men in Blue reaching the finals are almost diminished. A strong comeback against Australia could revive their WTC campaign.

Kohli in BGT

Meanwhile, for star batter Virat Kohli, the Border Gavaskar series will be crucial as his recent performances have been criticised, specially his struggles against spin in the New Zealand series and also his absence from the Indian domestic circuit. The series can offer him a chance at redemption and with the support of Tendulkar, he can refine his batting approaches against the fiery Australian pacers.

The Indian team has already begun their preparations at the WACA Ground in Perth. The training took place under heavy security and privacy measures which ensured a focused practice environment. If the Indian team gets joined by Tendulkar, it will be a major morale boost for the squad as he has some brilliant experience in Australia’s conditions.

Following the poor form of the Indian batters in Test cricket, a former Indian player has suggested Sachin Tendulkar’s name as a batting consultant for Team India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
