New Delhi: Salman Agha is set to be named as the new skipper of the Pakistan national cricket team, according to a report. Agha has managed to convince the selectors and the management with his skills and is expected to captain the Men in Green across all the three formats. Pakistan team has been undergoing  lot of turmoil with regards to their captaincy and on-field performance.

According to a report in Mykhel.com, which has quoted a report by Telecom Asia Sport, the 31-year-old Pakistani all-rounder has earned the trust of all the selectors and Mike Hesson, who was recently named as the white-ball coach for the side. Agha has managed to convince the entire Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to brass with his leadership quality and cricketing skills.

The dashing player was named as the T20I skipper of the Pakistan team for the Zimbabwe leg of the ongoing tour. He led the side in the absence of regular captain Mohammad Rizwan who was rested. While he did not get much opportunity to captain the side but his small stint has showcased his leadership qualities and tactical approach towards the game.

The report suggests that not just the selection committee and coach, he has also managed to impress PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. With all unanimously backing the appointment of the young Salman as an all-format skipper, an official announcement is expected to be made in the next week, the report suggests.

This big development comes after the ODI skipper Mohammad Rizwan and Test skipper Shan Masood’s fallout with the PCB where they were not able to convince them with their leadership qualities and on-field performances. Pakistan’s recent 0-3 drubbing against New Zealand proved to be the latest disaster after their debacle at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
