New Delhi: Indian stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah was at his best on the first day of the first Test match against Australia at the Optus stadium in Perth. Bumrah rattled through the Aussie batters picking up as many as four wickets and giving away just 17 runs in his spell on Day 1 before stumps were called.
After the end of first day’s play, fellow players, spectators and netizens lauded the Indian pace spreadhead for his remarkable efforts that brought back the visitors in the game post a shoddy show with the bat. While the Indian pacer received a number of appreciation posts, one of them caught the eyeballs. It was a post from none other than Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan, who applauded his husband’s performance in a rather cheeky manner.

Meanwhile, Bumrah came firing out picking the wicket of Nathan McSweeney for just 10 runs and the Indian pacer was quick to remove Usman Khawaja for just 8. Steve Smith and skipper Pat Cummins were the other two victims of Bumrah, who seemed to be in a lethal mood. In reply to India’s first innings score of 150, Australia were struggling at 67/7 at when stumps were called.
Apart from Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana were the other two wicket-takers for India, claiming two and one wickets respectively. The visitors would be aiming to wrap up the show early on the second day by claiming the remaining three Australian wickets as soon as possible. Australia trail India by 83 runs.
