Sensex, Nifty crash: When Will Stock Market Recover? What expert said

New Delhi: The BSE Sensex plunged over 800 points and Nifty dropped over 230 points in afternoon trade on February 24, 2025, Monday. As Indian stock markets are witnessing a decline since September 2024 and showing no signs of recovery, Kranthi Bathini, associated with Wealthmills Securities, spoke exclusively to News9 about the ‘Bear Market’ and the chances of recovery in the equities.

Bathini said that it seems that the stocks are in the oversold zone, but nobody can predict the markets. The expert said that when there is negative news and unprecedented selling by the foreign institutional investors, it is very difficult to figure out the bottom.

Analysing the current Stock Market situation

He, however, said that as per the levels and technicalities are concerned, this looks to be at bottom. The valuations are entering a fair value zone at this point of time. Instability in global markets, and weak cues from Asian markets are putting pressure on the domestic market.

The expert, however, sounded optimistic about the Indian corporates. Bathini said the corporate profits might not be enticing the market, but they also have not witnessed any negative signs but have recorded a slow pace of growth. Corporates witnessed some shortening of growth. However, India is still the fastest growing country despite GDP growth at 4-year-low. This downward trend is due to weak Q3 earnings of corporates and global cues, he added.

The expert predicted a certain recovery of the stock market. He advised investors with 1-3 years of approach to pump in in money in certain shares.

When asked whether the Indian stock market has entered the Bear phase, the expert replied stock prices get corrected and volumes are low and there is no activity in the market in a prolonged case. He described the present scenario as “a downtrend in the bull market”.
