New Delhi: Injured Nitish Reddy will be replaced by fellow all-rounder Shivam Dube in the Indian squad for the Zimbabwe T20I series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Wednesday.
India are scheduled to play five T20Is in Zimbabwe starting from July 6 with all matches being held in Harare.
“The men’s selection committee named Shivam Dube as replacement for the injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe,” the BCCI said in a statement, adding its medical team is monitoring Reddy’s problem.
Reddy had an impressive IPL 2024 in which he was adjudged the emerging player and recieved his maiden national team call-up as a result. Apart from him, Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma and Tushar Despande also were called up for the first time following eye-catching IPL campaigns.
The team will be led by Shubman Gill, who wasn’t included in the T20 World Cup squad, The senior members of the team including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested.

The 21-year-old Reddy scored 303 runs at an average of 33.67 and a strike rate of 142.92 for Sunrisers Hyderabad, giving assurance in the middle order.
The right-hander was at his best against with the bat against Rajasthan Royals, scoring 76 runs off 42 balls, including eight sixes and three fours, which won the match for SRH.
He also claimed three wickets with his medium paceers, including 2/17 against Delhi Capitals.
