New Delhi: Shubman Gill continued his golden scoring run at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a sublime century in the ongoing third ODI between India and England. Gill notched up his seventh ODI century at a ground he has made his favourite hunting ground in the last few years.
Gill reached the three-figure in just 95 balls as he smashed the England bowlers all across the world’s biggest cricket stadium. The Punjab batter is the most consistent performer for India in the series and backed up his two half-centuries in the first two ODIs with a magnificent century. The India opener scored 87 in the first match and followed it up with a 60 in Cuttack.
Gill took centre stage after Rohit Sharma, centurion of the 3rd ODI, was dismissed early for just 1 run. Gill then joined hands with Virat Kohli (52) and added 116 runs for the second wicket. In the process, he became the fastest to 2500 runs (50 innings) surpassing South Africa legend Hashim Amla.
Gill continues love affair with Ahmedabad
Gill continued his golden run at the Ahmedabad venue with his first hundred in ODIs at the Narendra Modi stadium. With the 50-over century, Gill now boasts tons in all formats of the game at the iconic venue in Gujarat. The Gujarat Titans skipper has an outstanding IPL record in Ahmedabad with 953 runs in 18 matches at the ground including 3 centuries.
Gill’s Test century at this venue came against Australia in March 2023 while a month before his red-ball century he became, Gill slammed his highest T20I score with an unbeaten 126 against New Zealand in February 2023.
With the ODI ton, Gill joined an elite list of batters to have centuries in all three formats at a particular venue.
