Snubbed for Australia series, Shardul Thakur slams quickfire 73 in Vijay Hazare

New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur smashed a quickfire half-century as he scored an unbeaten 73 runs in just 28 balls against Nagaland in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on December 31, Tuesday. Thakur was snubbed from the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 despite his great all-round performance in the last edition of BGT in Australia.

Nitish Reddy replaced Thakur from the Indian squad and he proved his worth in the ongoing BGT. Thakur played his last test match for India against South Africa in Centurion where he picked only 1 wicket in the test match. He was also went unsold in the IPL mega auction 2025.

Thakur is playing domestic cricket regularly as he played a vital role in Mumbai ending their six-year Ranji title drought. Thakur was also in Mumbai’s squad which won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. He was leading Mumbai in this match against Nagaland as Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer were resting for this match.

Mumbai posted a mammoth score of 403 runs in 50 overs. Ayush Mhatre scored a dashing hundred as he scored 181 runs in just 117 balls with 15 fours and 11 sixes. Thakur provided the finishing touches to Mumbai’s innings.

Thakur came into the crease on the 41st over of the match and played a memorable innings against Nagaland. He also scored 43 runs in 45 balls in the last match against Punjab and has been looking good with the bat in the tournament.

Mayank Agarawal smashes third consecutive century in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Indian former opener Mayank Agarawal smashed his third consecutive century in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024. Mayank scored 124 runs in 112 balls against Hyderabad at the ADSA Railways Cricket Ground, Ahmedabad on December 31, Tuesday.

In the last match against Arunachal Pradesh Mayank helped his side to chase down 168 runs in just 14.2 overs and also scored a dashing century in just 45 balls.
