In a surprising development, Hamza bin Laden, the son of Al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, who was believed to have been killed in a U.S. airstrike in 2019, is reportedly alive and actively leading the terror organization. According to a recent intelligence report obtained by The Mirror, Hamza is not only alive but is also playing a significant role in Al-Qaeda’s resurgence.
The intelligence report suggests that senior Taliban leaders are fully aware of Hamza’s survival and are providing him and his family with protection. These leaders are said to engage with him regularly, facilitating meetings and securing his safety.
“These leaders… engage with him, holding regular meetings and securing him and his family. It highlights a deep connection between Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, one that is crucial for Western governments to understand. [Hamza] has ascended to the leadership of Al-Qaeda, steering [it] towards its most potent resurgence since the Iraq War,” the report stated.
Al-Qaeda’s Resurgence Under Hamza’s Leadership
At 34 years old, Hamza bin Laden is reportedly based in Jalalabad, a known hotbed for terrorist activity about 100 miles east of Kabul. Intelligence suggests that under his leadership, Al-Qaeda is regrouping and preparing for future attacks on Western targets. His connection to his father, Osama bin Laden, adds significant weight to his leadership, motivating him to continue the legacy his father began.
“Under his command, Al-Qaeda is regrouping and preparing for future attacks on Western targets. Hamza is driven by a powerful determination to continue the legacy of his father, which adds a symbolic and strategic weight to his actions,” the report detailed.
Notably, Hamza’s brother, Abdullah bin Laden, is also involved in efforts to revive the terrorist group.
Hamza’s Background and Reported Death
Hamza bin Laden, often called the “crown prince of jihad,” is the 15th of Osama bin Laden’s 20 children. From a young age, he was groomed to take over his father’s leadership role in Al-Qaeda. Before the 9/11 attacks, he was often seen in propaganda videos, condemning Americans, Jews, and “Crusaders.”
In 2019, then-U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Hamza had been killed in a counterterrorism operation in Afghanistan’s Ghazni Province. However, no DNA evidence was obtained to confirm his death, leaving his fate uncertain. Trump’s statement at the time read: “Hamza bin Laden, the high-ranking Al-Qaeda member and son of Osama bin Laden, was killed in a United States counterterrorism operation in the Afghanistan/ Pakistan region.”
Now, the latest intelligence reports cast doubt on those claims, with strong evidence suggesting that Hamza bin Laden is alive and actively leading the terrorist group his father founded.
This development underscores the ongoing security threat posed by Al-Qaeda and its deepening relationship with the Taliban, as countries around the world continue to grapple with the challenges posed by terrorism in the region.
