Suryakumar Yadav lauds ground staff for their ‘unnoticed’ contribution in cricket

New Delhi: Team India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was all praise for the ground staff which did a tremendous job by getting the field game ready for the final day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group D clash between Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra. The match, which was played at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore faced heavy downpour on the penultimate day i.e. Sunday but the groundsmen worked tirelessly and went all out to prepare the field well in time.

Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) shared a picture on their Instagram handle on the final day of the game, reflecting on the impeccable work done by the ground staff of the stadium. The picture had two pictures in it which highlighted the difference between the two. The first picture was of Sunday at 5:00 pm where the ground was seen soaking wet with the pitch covered under an overcast sky.

The other picture was clicked on Monday at 7:00 am with the ground all dried up and the lush green grass seen game-ready for the final day and the weather cleared up. This makes it clear that the work that the ground staff did in between these hours was appreciative and they deserve all the praise that they don’t usually get, silently working behind the curtains and making the ground ready for the players so that the fans can enjoy a game of cricket.

Suryakumar fully acknowledged their contribution as he reposted the image shared by TNCA on his Instagram story and wrote, “Unbelievable scenes. Things that go unnoticed after the game of cricket. Ground staff. Just wow.” It is indeed very harsh and true that the contribution made by the groundsmen often goes unnoticed who work tirelessly to remove all the wet patches and drain out the logged water whenever it’s overcast weather at a venue.

Tamil Nadu win by an innings and 70 runs

The match was eventually won by the hosts Tamil Nadu by a huge margin of an innings and 70 runs. Saurashtra had won the toss and opted to bat first, putting up 203 as their first innings score after playing for 77 overs. Tamil Nadu responded with a well-structured 367 in 121.3 overs and wrapped up the visitors on a paltry 94, bowling them out in just 40.4 overs and winning the campaign-opening clash

Tamil Nadu have achieved seven points and remain on the top of the Group D points table while it’s the contrary for Saurashtra who are at the bottom of the table with 0 points. Tamil Nadu will next play Delhi from October 18 while Saurashtra will face Chattisgarh on the same day.

An impeccable work by the ground staff at Coimbatore’s SNR College Cricket Ground made Suryakumar Yadav commend the people whose valuable contribution in cricket go unnoticed after the game of cricket.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
