Team India not to play warm-up games ahead of Champions Trophy 2025

New Delhi: Team India will not take part in any of the warm-up games ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, BCCI has confirmed. The Indian cricket board decided the same as India completed a three-match series sweep on February 12, Wednesday against England, which served as a more than practice for the Men in Blue ahead of the marquee event.

Pakistan named three Shaheens squads (Pakistan A teams) on Wednesday which will feature in warm-up games against Bangladesh, South Africa and Afghanistan respectively. The warm-up matches will start from February 14 to February 17 in the lead up to the main event, which begins on February 19 to March 09 in Pakistan.

India to play all their CT 2025 matches in Dubai

India play all their matches in Dubai and the Men in Blue will fly out of India on February 15 and reach the city. The final will also be played in the city if the Men in Blue make a cut for the match. As many as three teams – Afghanistan, South Africa and Bangladesh will feature in the warm-up matches on February 14 and February 17.

Afghanistan will also play a warm-up game against New Zealand on February 16 in Karachi. These warm-up games will serve as a final preparation for the participants ahead of showpiece event. South Africa, New Zealand and Pakistan are also not participating as they are already involved in a tri-series.

Warm-up matches schedule

February 14 – Pakistan Shaheens vs Afghanistan, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

February 16 – New Zealand vs Afghanistan, National Stadium, Karachi.

February 17 – Pakistan Shaheens vs South Africa, National Stadium, Karachi.

February 17 – Pakistan Shaheens vs Bangladesh, ICC Cricket Academy, Dubai.

All the games will be day-night fixtures.

Pakistan player Shadab Khan will be at the helm for Shaheens against Afghanistan in Lahore on February 14, Friday while two Shaheens teams will be in action in Karachi and Dubai on February 17, Monday. Mohammad Hurraira will lead the Shaheens against South Africa in Karachi, while Mohammad Haris will be the skipper against Bangladesh in Dubai.
