Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) Group-2 exams have been postponed and will now be held in December, the state government said.
The exam which was initially scheduled to be held on August 6,7, will be held at the end of the year. The government took the decision after speaking to candidates on Thursday and considering their requests.
Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who spoke to the candidates, said that the exams will be held in the second week of December.
At least 5.51 lakh students have applied to appear for these exams, which has 783 vacancies.
Candidates who appeared for District Selection Committee (DSC) exams this month have demanded the Congress government to postpone Group-2, citing lack of time to prepare for back to back exams.
DSC exams began on July 18 and will be held till August 5. Out of 2.79 lakh applicants, 2.48 lakh students downloaded their hall tickets by Wednesday and it is a test to fill 11,062 vacant teacher posts. Despite the state government’s commitment to hold the exam on time, many students protested to postpone it as there was not enough time to prepare for the extensive syllabus.
Group 2 has already been postponed three times due to various reasons.
