Hyderabad: Thunderstorms and rain lashed various parts of Telangana including the capital city Hyderabad on Sunday night. The India Meteorological Department predicts more rain today in various parts of the state.
Since it was a Sunday, traffic was relatively light and no major traffic jams were seen. Flooding was a significant issue, however, and Disaster Response Force (DRF) was seen clearing stagnant water and fallen trees in various places.
Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Khammam were some of the districts which saw heavy rain on Sunday night.
In Hyderabad, Himayatnagar, Basheerbagh, Khairatabad, Saidabad, Bandlaguda, Amberpet, Musheerabad, Asifnagar, Shaikpet also witnessed moderate rain that brought temperatures down.

According to Telangana State Development Planning Society data, Rajoli mandal in Jogulamba Gadwal received the highest rainfall of 143.5 mm followed by Madgul mandal in Rangareddy district, which received 138.3 mm rainfall. Gurrampode mandal in Nalgonda district received 135.5 mm rain.
IMD forecasts more rain for Monday:
Heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph is likely to occur at some places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet districts from June 3-6 while light to moderate showers may occur after June 6.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 37 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively. Meanwhile, Southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in June second week as per the weather department.
