Temba Bavuma goes past Virat Kohli in latest Test rankings, enters top 10

New Delhi: Temba Bavuma got rewarded for his meticulous innings as the South Africa batter went past Indian star Virat Kohli in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday. The highlight of the batters rankings was Bavuma’s big jump as he rose as many as 14 places to enter the top 10 of the Test batters rankings.

The South African player now sits on the 10th spot, five places above Kohli, who despite a century in the Perth Test against Australia slumped in the rankings. The Proteas skipper notched up sensational knocks of 70 and 113 in the first Test match against Sri Lanka at Kingsmead, Durban, which helped him rise by a huge number of places. Kohli, who was on the 14th spot, has gone down to the 15th position in the batting charts.

Jaiswal, Pant only two Indians in top 10

In the top 10 list, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant are the only two Indian players. While Jaiswal sits on the fourth spot with 825 points, Pant is on the sixth with 736 rating points. The other notable player who’s made a significant jump of two places is English batter Harry Brook. Brook now sits on the second spot, behind Joe Root, who continues to hold the top position in the charts.

In the bowling charts, Indian pacer spreadhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to be the number one ranked Test bowler. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has jumped a place to sit on the 6th position while Proteas’ Marco Jansen, who claimed 11 wickets in the first Test against Sri Lanka, climbed 19 places to rank 9th on the ranking. Ravichandran Ashwin, who did not play the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth, continues to be on 4th place.

Temba Bavuma has surpassed Virat Kohli to take the 10th spot in latest ICC Test rankings. Joe Root continues to lead the charts.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
