Ticket prices for next year’s India vs England Lord’s Test increases

New Delhi: Fans willing to get a first-hand view of next year’s India vs England blockbuster Test at Lord’s will have shell out more for tickets, the price of which has been increased.

India will tour England for a five-match Test series from June 20 with the third game slated to be held at Lord’s from July 10.

Marylebone Cricket Club, which owns the Lord’s cricket ground, has kept the price of the cheapest tickets for the match at 90 pounds each that offers restrictive views.

Enthusiasts will have to spend anything between 120-175 pounds for unrestricted view of the action, reports ESPNcricinfo.

Demand for tickets have not been encouraging during the most recent Test at Lord’s when England hosted Sri Lanka.

The MCC received criticism for steep ticket prices for the Sri Lanka game that was held last month.

The prices of tickets for the Sri Lanka game with restricted views ranged from 115 to 140 pounds.

Only 9000 spectators were in attendance on day four of the contest when the match ended.

Officials hope there will be much more interest and the ground will fill up for the India Test, which is the second biggest money spinner after the Ashes series involving Australia.

Only one third of the stands was full at Lord’s during the Sri Lanka game, which evoked a sense of surprise from England’s stand-in captain Ollie Pope.

“It was just like ‘jeez, it seems quiet today’,” Pope had said, as quoted by PTI.

“I’m not sure if people expected the game to be done by day four or not. It’s a shame it wasn’t a full house because it was obviously a good day’s play.”
