1. Ric Flair

Ric Flair is the 16 time WWE Champion and it is the most number of times by any wrestler in WWE history. Flair has been among the top stars who were a part of the WWE team when WWE evolved in the USA. He has been a top performer who always gave interesting matches and performances and helped WWE to reach new heights.

After quitting WWE, Flair became an alcoholic and had divorced four women and things were getting worse as he was caught in a road rage accident in 2005. Later, he started a business named ‘Ric Flair Finance which was later bankrupted in 2007. This is not only a single time when Flair was broke after quitting WWE, there are many instances when Flair was broke, and at last, WWE owner Vince McMahon gave him a loan of $800,000 to pay his dues and fines.

2. Dave Bautista

The former WWE Champion is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. Bautista was a successful WWE star and after retiring from WWE, he went to try his fortunes in the acting line and was successful and signed some big projects in Hollywood. But many fans didn’t know that Batista was broke in 2010 when he left the company in 2010.

Bautista had a great run in WWE before 2010 and was living a luxurious life but after quitting WWE, he went broke for eight months and starved for more than three years. Bautista also decided he would not make his return to wrestling until he proved something. Later, he got the role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in 2014 and then his Hollywood career took a flying start.

3. Lex Luger

Lex Luger was the top prospect in the 1990s, he has great charisma in the company. WWE wanted to give him a push as the next Hulk Hogan, he got a great run in WWE before WCW pulled him with a lucrative contract. But After WWE bought WCW, they released him from WWE.

After being kicked out from WWE, his life was changed he got addicted to drugs and was arrested multiple times in 2003. His wife Miss Elizabeth also passed away at that time. Luger spent several days in jail and paid heavy fines to courts. After that, he went completely broke.

The former winner of the Royal Rumble was also paralyzed after all that happened to him. Later, WWE helped him by signing him into their ‘Wellness Program’ in 2011, and then he lived a normal sober life.

4. Joey Mercury

 

Joey Mercury was enjoying a good run in WWE but an incident happened in 2007 when a ladder struck his face and injured his nose. Later, he made his return to the ring with a faceguard but WWE released him after some time.

After being kicked out he was also addicted to drugs and painkillers and came close to selling his house, but current WWE Undisputed Champion CM Punk helped him during his difficult time. Punk also helped him to come back into the ring and Mercury made his return in 2010 and worked with WWE until 2017. He also appeared with famous Seth Rollins ‘J&J’ security.

5. Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts

The most famous villain in WWE Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has produced many great matches in his career. He was popular to come along with his giant snake named ‘Damian’ in the ring. He left WWE in the 1990s and joined many wrestling promotions but nothing worked out for him and things went worse for him.

He started taking alcohol and drugs daily and was depressed through his difficult phase. His pet snake also died in 2004 due to starvation. Later, WWE helped him by sponsoring his rehab program. His life also got better when a former WWE superstar introduced yoga to him and he quit drugs once again and then he became part of many documentaries, films, and wrestling shows.
