Two Former Bangladesh Ministers Detained At Dhaka Airport

Dhaka: Amidst ongoing turmoil, two former ministers of Bangladesh were reportedly detained at the Dhaka airport, while they were trying to flee the country. According to the reports, former IT Minister of Bangladesh Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Hasan Mahmood were detained at the Dhaka Airport, while they were trying to flee to India. 

Reports suggested that former Bangladesh minister of telecommunication and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was detained by the Airport authorities at the Dhaka Airport. The former minister, along with his two aides, had arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 3.00 pm, where he was intercepted and stopped from boarding the plane. He was later taken into custody by the immigration officials.

Former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmood was also detained at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after he arrived at the airport. It is being claimed that Mahmood was to board a flight to India, however, just before he could board the flight, the airport authorities and security guards detained him

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Parliament on Tuesday was dissolved, the Parliament’s office reportedly said. Student protest coordinators had asked for the dissolution of the Parliament by 3 pm on Tuesday, pushing for the formation of a new interim government at the earliest.
