New Delhi: Pakistan defeated India by 91 runs in the third match of the Men’s U19 Asia Cup at Dubai International Stadium on Saturday, November 20. The Men in Blue gave a tough fight to Pakistan and stitched crucial partnerships in the death overs. Nikhil Kumar, Harvansh Singh and Mohamed Enaan played important knocks for the Men in Blue but they bundled out for 237 runs in 47.1 overs and fell 44 runs short of the target.
For Pakistan, opener Shahziab Khan played an explosive knock to help Pakistan post a big total of 281 runs while the bowlers also did a brilliant job and picked up wickets at the regular intervals. Nikhil Kumar amassed 67 runs off 77 balls to keep Team India alive in the difficult run-chase and then Mohamed Ennan managed to drag the match to the wire. But Pakistan survived a late scare after skipper Baig ran out Enaan on a controversial decision to get his team off to a great start in the tournament.
Earlier, India lost quick wickets while chasing the massive target of 282 runs. Abdul Sahan removed Ayush Mhatre on 20 runs while Ali Raza dismissed Vaibhav Suryavanshi on 1 run. Andre Siddarth and Mohamed Amaan tried to forge a partnership but Faham-ul-Haq and Usman Khan removed them. Nikhil Kumar played a brilliant knock while lower order also contributed with the bat.
