When the final whistle blows in Murcia, Spain managed edge past Denmark 1-0. The first half was characterized by a stop-start tempo, but the second half picked up steam as the home team forced Schmeichel to make saves with two hoisted goals from Morata. But in the last 20 minutes, La Roja resorted to Denmark’s level of aggression, so the striker wouldn’t be the one to win the match.

The game-winning goal came from Zubimendi, who skillfully pounced on a Nelsson clearance after Baena crossed the ball and crashed into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the penalty area. After a series of hard-working, mostly Danish yellow card exchanges, De la Fuente’s players have emerged victorious in their group.

Switzerland managed to continue their disastrous form this campaign, after Serbia defeated them 2-0, in a must win game for both the sides. It all started off with a Nico Elvedi own goal, right at the end of the first half as the Serbians managed to take the lead despite the Swiss dominance in possession and territory.

Switzerland were rather wasteful with their chances, as none of their 11 shots on goal managed to find the net at the end of the game. However, the second goal for Serbia was scored by their talismanic striker, Aleksander Mitrovic, who produced a neat finish with his right foot to find the top corner. However, the Serbians further sunk the Swiss side as the score remained 2-0, and it is now clear that the Swiss side’s qualification looks rather less likely.

Poland vs Portugal

Portugal managed to sink the hosts, Poland 3-1 at the capital to maintain their perfect record in Group 1. This allows Portugal to go clear at the top of the table. Large portions of this Nations League match were controlled by the Selecao, who had far more ball possession and showed much more authority and urgency as compared  to the hosts. Midway through the first half, a beautiful team play set up Bernardo Silva’s goal after Ronaldo had struck the crossbar.

Later, Leao drove forward and struck a post, but Portugal’s goal-hungry captain swept in the rebound to put the away team in complete control. When Zielinski pulled one back in minute 78, there was a late scare, but Bednarek’s own goal quickly calmed everyone down.

Cyprus vs Romania

3-0 at HALF-TIME for Romania 🇷🇴 in Cyprus!

Goals by Man (of course), classic Răzvan Marin penalty, and Dragușin’s first goal for the senior national team! 👏

It was a night where the visitors managed to pull of the victories and Romania did just that against Cyprus, whom they completely thrashed 3-0 to maintain their top spot and hundred percent win record this campaign. It was their talisman, Dennis Man who gave them the lead in the 16th minute of the game, from where it was pretty much and end to end contest with Cyprus also showing good spirit on the pitch.

However, despite the urgency showed by the hosts, they did concede a penalty, which was converted by Razvan Marin in the 25th minute of the game. Soon after the second goal, the defender, Radu Dragusin further added to the hosts’ miseries by scoring the third goal of the game to bag the three points early in the first half of the game as it remained 3-0 at full time.

Belarus vs Northern Ireland

It remained deadlockedbetween Belarus and Northern Ireland, with the Irish visitors leaving the ground frustrated after their missed opportunities on the pitch. Belarus didn’t quite show the urgency and the hunger to go up front and score, while Northern Ireland had their fair share of chances with 15 shots on goal, but none of them finding the net. However, both the sides left the field with one points each, as the fans just couldn’t witness a goal in a game that did promise a few, considering the amount of chances that were created.
