The Olympic gold medalists did their utmost to break the tie, but were unable to find the back of the net in 21 attempts. In the meantime, League A leaders Denmark defeated Switzerland 2-0, moving them to the top of Group 4. After defeating Croatia in the previous tournament, La Roja are the current Nations League champion. While the national team hasn’t lost a competitive match since March 2023, Spain have not dropped a game since a friendly loss to Colombia back in March.
On the other hand, tonight’s hosts Switzerland managed to drop their first game. Just as it appeared that the match might end in a draw, Denmark scored twice in the last ten minutes to win 2-0. However, the Scots have been in poor form lately and will have a difficult task against a stronger Portuguese team. Their recent play indicates that they might have trouble competing on the field with Portugal’s calibre.
