New Delhi: The Brazilian again returning to the Octagon, Dana White announced his return on August 16, Friday as Alex Pereira will defend his Light Heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree Jr. in UFC 307 on October 6, Sunday. Pereira will be fighting for the third time this year, he didn’t take any damage in the two fights he fought earlier this year.
Pereira headlined the most historic UFC event, he fought against Jamahal Hill in UFC 300 and knocked him in the very first round, then he returned on June 29 for the UFC 303 event by replacing the injured Conor McGregor match, he fought against Jiri Prochazka and knocked him in the second round. Now Pereira will be fighting against Rountree Jr. who was suspended for two months earlier this year for taking unknowingly supplements that had banned substances.
The fight will headline the UFC 307 event which is set to take place in The Salt Lake City, Utah. Rountree is the number eight-ranked fighter in the division, it will be an interesting fight how Pereira will take down a lower-ranked fighter who has nothing to lose.
White also confirmed the co-main event for UFC 307 event as UFC women’s Bantamweight Champion Racquel Pennington will defend his title against Julianna Pena. According to reports, former UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling, Movsar Evloev, Kayla Harrison, and Ketlen Vieira also feature in the UFC 307 event.
Conor McGregor announces his return date
Dana White told the media ‘McGregor won’t be fighting this year’ which was immediately answered by McGregor as he stated ‘Ah Dana, December is the date’. UFC didn’t book any fight for UFC 310 which reportedly happened in December. McGregor has yet to make his return to the Octagon since 2022, he was supposed to fight in the UFC 303 event but pulled out from the fight with a toe injury.
