Unfair to blame individuals in a team game, believes Ravindra Jadeja

New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja, who had a fantastic outing on the first day of the third and final Test against New Zealand on Friday, said that it is unfair to put blame on specific individuals in a team game. This comes after three of Indian batters were dismissed in quick succession and India ended the first day in a precarious position after being dominant throughout.

India collapsed from a comfortable 78 for one to 86 for four in a short span of time during the closing stages of play as dismissals of Rohit Sharma (18), Virat Kohli (4) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (30) put jolts on the team’s proceedings. “It all unfolded in a mere 10 minutes, we did not get any time to react. But it happens, it is a team game, any individual cannot be blamed specifically and small mistakes keep happening,” Jadeja told the media after end of play.

Jadeja expects solid show from remaining batters

The stylish all-rounder, who picked his 14th Test fifer, said that he expects some solid show from the batters remaining in the Indian side. He said that the batters will have to target New Zealand’s first innings score of 235 and then only, the second innings will come into play. It will be good if the batters make their contributions and take out Team India from the tricky situation.

Meanwhile, the all-rounder also said that he is hopeful that the team still has chance in the match and they are not completely out. Jadeja said that he’s hopeful that the batters lefts will bat well on Saturday and then follow it up with a good bowling to keep action alive in the match. With India suffering yet another collapse, Jadeja thwarted the notion that repetitive failure of specialist batters is putting a lot of pressure on the lower order.
