New Delhi: The Union Cabinet’s Committee on Economic Affairs gave a green signal for the establishment of an Industrial Smart City in the Zaheerabad region of Telangana, prompting Union minister G Kishan Reddy to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the announcement. This is part of 12 new Industrial Smart Cities announced by the CCEA with an approval for investment worth Rs 28,602 crore via the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme.

Allocation for Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City
The CCEA cleared an allocation of Rs 2,361 crore for the industrial smart city in Zaheerabad, Telangana as a part of the Hyderabad Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC). The Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City is expected to facilitate the production of:
Automobiles
Electrical equipment
Food processing
Machinery and equipment
Metals and non-metallic based industries
Transport equipment
Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City is likely to create 1,74,000 jobs and garner investments worth Rs 10,000 crore.
All about Zaheerabad
The Zaeerabad Industrial Node is nestled under the Hyderabad Nagpur Industrial Corridor. Spread across 17 villages in Sangareddy District, Zaheerabad will get an Industrial Smart City spread of 12,500 Acres. The project will be 65 km from the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road. The project is expected to garner investments to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore.
Why did Centre clear 12 Industrial Smart Cities
The CCEA cleared the allocation of sums for 12 Smart Cities in a bid to meet the Prime Minister’s vision of boosting India’s exports to $2 trillion from the current print of $776.68 billion.
