New Delhi: Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, felicitated the Indian men’s hockey team for winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. In an event organised in New Delhi on Saturday, the medal-winning hockey team, led by skipper Harmanpreet Singh, was complemented for their remarkable achievement at the Paris Games.
India beat Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal contest and brought laurels to their country. The Sports minister praised the team’s dedication and hard work noting that their outstanding performance on the global stage has filled the entire nation with pride. Dr. Mandaviya also said that the men’s hockey side has brought immense glory to the nation.
Inspiration for millions of youth: Mandaviya
“The entire nation is proud of your achievement,” Dr. Mandaviya stated. “This victory is a testament to your perseverance, teamwork, and indomitable spirit. You have brought immense glory to India and have inspired millions of young athletes to pursue their dreams,” he added.
The Sports Minister also said that he acknowledges the tireless efforts not only made by the players but the coaching staff and support team as well. He further said that they also played a crucial role in the team’s success at the global stage. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing all necessary support to further develop hockey in India and nurture the country’s sporting talent.
“Hockey is more than just a sport for us—it’s a symbol of our national pride. The hard work, commitment, and passion displayed by the team have led to this historic success. You have shown the world what can be achieved with resolve and determination,” Dr. Mandaviya emphasized.
While the interaction the Sports Minister had with the players, he also encouraged them to continue working hard for excellence so as to set their sights on greater achievements in time to come.
