New Delhi: The deadline for the upgrading of Aadhar details is approaching. The date up to which Aadhaar can be upgraded free of cost is June 14, 2025. The important updates, such as identity proof, residential proof, date of birth, etc., can be updated free of cost till the mentioned date. The charge-free service is available on my Aadhaar portal.
Post the deadline, the fee charged would be Rs 50 for uploading the documents for upgradation. The same amount is to be charged for submitting the documents in a hard copy format at the designated centers for Aadhar upgradation.
UIDAI issued in the public interest the call for the Aadhaar upgradation. According to UIDAI, it has urged Aadhar card holders to update the recent details for the better delivery of government services such as Direct Benefit Transfer and better identification of the beneficiaries for flagship government schemes. It has asked to update the Aadhaar details, providing them if they had not done so in the last 10 years.
Procedure for Aadhar upgradation
The following is the process for online upgrading of the Aadhar details:
- Step 1: Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ using your Aadhaar number and one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number.
- Step 2: Check the identity and address details displayed in the profile.
- Step 3: If the details displayed in the profile are correct, please click on the tab ‘I verify that the above details are correct.’
- Step 4: Select the identity document from the drop-down menu and click on “Wish to submit.”
- Step 5: Upload the identity document (size has to be less than 2 MB; file format is JPEG, PNG, or PDF).
- Step 6: Select the address document from the drop-down menu and click on “I wish to submit.”
- Step 7: Upload the current address document (size to be less than 2 MB; file format JPEG, PNG, or PDF).
- Step 8: Submit the consent.
The Aadhaar uploading process would then be successfully completed. For future reference, anyone can download the acknowledgement receipt.
