Virat Kohli appreciates and salutes Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul for gritty knocks in Perth Test – Watch

New Delhi: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli appreciated and saluted Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul for their sensational knocks on the second day of the first Test match in Perth against Australia. As the pair walked back to the pavilion after the end of play on Day 2, Virat Kohli, who came for practice, appreciated the duo for standing tall for the visitors on Saturday.

When stumps were called on Day 2, Indian were well positioned at 172/0, with a first innings lead of 218 runs against the hosts. Jaiswal and Rahul both slammed half-centuries, running riot on the Australian bowlers as the visitors dominated them for the entire two sessions of play. The lethal bowlers of Australia failed in front of the Indian batters as they looked determined to make a mark in the Test match.

Meanwhile, Kohli, who was all ready to get on to crease, did not get an opportunity to bat today as Jaiswal and Rahul took an absolute care of the Indian innings.

Earlier in the innings when Jaiswal completed his half-century, Kohli was seen applauding the young lad in the stands. Jaiswal completed his fifty first and then, Rahul followed his footsteps, getting to a gritty fifty.

India bowl out Australia for 104

Earlier in the day, Australia, who began their innings from an overnight score of 67/7, were bundled out for a paltry total of 107 runs with skipper and pace spreadhead Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge with a five-wicket haul. India, who a got a 46-run lead in their kitty, added 172 more runs to go past a score of 200 at day end. The visitors would be aiming to get to a score of at least 350 runs to remain on the safe side against the hosts.
