New Delhi: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is stuck in Barbados along with other members of Team India. He was recently seen video calling his wife, Anushka Sharma, showing her the bad weather caused by Hurricane Beryl. Team India stranded in Barbados since their T20 World Cup win against South Africa on June 29 and ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought.

Virat Kohli made a crucial contribution to Team India’s victory, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls. He didn’t have a great tournament with the bat but he stepped on the big match for the Men in Blue. After the match, Kohli announced his retirement from the T20Is and said that this was his last T20I game for India and he wanted to win the trophy with the team.
“This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. One day you feel like you can’t get a run and this happens, God is great. Just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup” Kohli said in a post-match presentation.
As per the previous report, Team India will fly to Delhi from Barbados where they are expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, Squad members, support staff and their families are still stuck in Barbados due to the flight cancellations caused by Hurricane Beryl.
The entire island was shut for two days, forcing players to remain in their hotel rooms. BCCI officials are trying to arrange a special flight for the players but have faced difficulties due to the closed airports. As per the latest reports, the Indian team is set to leave from Barbados on July 3 and will land in Delhi on July 4, Thursday.
New look Team India reached in Zimbabwe
While the T20 World Cup winning team is stuck in Barbados, Shubman Gill-led side has landed in Harare for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on July 6. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman will be the head coach of the team.
Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag received their maiden India call-up. Harshit Rana, Sai Sudharsan and Jitesh Sharma replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson in the squad for the first two T20Is.
