Mumbai: Vishu Festival is celebrated in Kerala, parts of Karnataka like Mangalore, and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. It marks the first day of Medam, the first month in the Malayali calendar, and falls on 14th April in 2025.
Celebrations begin with house cleaning and decorating the entrance with flowers, banana plants, and rangoli. The central ritual is the Vishu Kani, a symbolic arrangement of auspicious items viewed first thing in the morning for good luck.
