Gwalior: Gautam Gambhir visited Maa Pitambara Temple in Datia on Friday morning and offered prayers on the second day of Navratri. The Indian men’s cricket team head coach visited the sacred temple ahead of the first India vs Bangladesh at Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6. Gwalior is hosting an international match for the first time in 14 years.
Gambhir recently oversaw a sensational 2-0 victory in the Test series against Bangladesh in his first Test assignment as India coach.
After the historic Kanpur Test win, India are now scheduled to play Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series starting in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior.
Ahead of the series opener, Gambhir visited the Maa Pitambara Temple to offer prayers on the second day of Shardiya Navratri.
The auspicious festival of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, known as Navdurga.

After Rohit Sharma’s men pulled off a pair of dominant victories in the Test series, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side will look to replicate the performances in the upcoming T20Is. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will make a comeback into India’s squad in the shortest format. India have also picked Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma as the wicketkeeper-batters against Bangladesh.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mayank Yadav, who earned their maiden international call-ups will be eyeing their debuts against the Bangla Tigers. The opening match of the series will be played at Gwalior on October 6 followed by the second match on October 9 in Delhi and the third game on October 12 in Hyderabad.
After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year, India continued their superb run in the shortest format with back-to-back away series victories against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
