New Delhi: The internet can’t keep calm with the fact that pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has returned for the Mumbai Indians (MI), and it is certainly an open threat to all the batters featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Bumrah had injured his back during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held earlier in January in Sydney and remained out of action ever since.
The right-arm quick even missed the marquee Champions Trophy 2025 tournament for Team India as he wasn’t available for selection, being in the recovery phase. He was said to miss the good first half of the IPL 2025 for MI, but the franchise dropped a massive surprise on Sunday, announcing their star pacer’s early return. It seems Bumrah has received all the necessary clearances from the medical teams of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he recovered.
Bumrah joined the rest of the MI squad in Mumbai and was also spotted bowling in the nets at the Wankhede Stadium ahead of the big encounter with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scheduled on Monday. The video of him bowling instantly went viral on social media, leaving the fans joyous.

MI coach confirms availability
To add a layer of authenticity to this, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene, on Sunday, confirmed his availability for the RCB game.
It was unclear at first if Bumrah would straightaway be available for selection, keeping his back injury in view but the MI head coach said, “He is training today, so he should be available tomorrow. He arrived last night (Saturday, April 5). And I believe he had his sessions with NCA to finalise that. He has been handed over to our physios. So, yeah, it should be his bowling today. All good and he will play tomorrow,” as quoted by Cricbuzz.
It’s surely going to be a cracking encounter between the two sides, which are coming on the back of a loss and would aim to turn the tables against each other to get those two crucial points.
Although MI had announced Jasprit Bumrah’s return on Sunday, it was unclear if he would feature in the home game vs RCB.
