WATCH: Rahmanullah Gurbaz jumps over Rashid Khan, spinner nearly skips head injury

New Delhi: Afghanistan and Bangladesh have locked horns in the third and final ODI of the series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. As Bangladesh opted to bat in the decisive game, the hosts managed to pick wickets of the Bangla batters at regular intervals. The partnership between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah proved to be frustrating for the Afghan bowlers as they stitched a 145-run stand for the fifth wicket.

While they were batting, a hilarious incident took place on the field. Star spinner Rashid Khan was trying to stop a single and was after the ball for that. At the same time, wicketkeeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz also ran in the same direction. Rashid slid to successfully field the ball, nearly missing a foot blow on his head by Gurbaz, who jumped over him at the correct time. Gurbaz avoided the collision with Rashid but the latter’s hat flipped out of the head during the process.

Here’s the video of the incident –

Afghanistan need 245 to win series

Bangladesh posted 244/8 in their stipulated 50 overs as Mahmudullah missed his century by just two runs. He was run out off the final ball of the first innings as Afghanistan left the 38-year-old stranded on 98. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the second top-scorer as he hit 66 off 119 deliveries. He is leading the team in the third ODI as Najmul Hossain Shanto was given rest due to a groin injury ahead of the third ODI.

For Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai was the pick of the wickets as he scalped four wickets while Mohammad Nabi and Rashid claimed one each. Afghanistan have begun chasing the target and have lost three wickets after batting for 27 overs. The wickets were opener Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah, and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi. Rahmanullah Gurbaz has completed his seventh ODI fifty and continues to bat with Omarzai. They need to score 245 runs to claim the series 2-1.

While fielding the ball against Bangladesh in the third ODI, Rahmanullah Gurbaz almost collided with Rashid Khan. It could have been a severe injury if things went otherwise. Watch the video here.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
