New Delhi: Pacer Renuka Singh got India off to a cracking start with the ball after Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the high-octane clash between the two teams in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday, October 06. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are locking horns in match no.7 of the Women’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
Renuka opened the bowling for India in the high-pressure contest and struck in her very first over as she castled Pakistan opener Gull Feroza’s stumps with a dream delivery. It was a brilliant in-swinger from the Indian pacer which left the Pakistan batter bamboozled as the ball breached her defence to rattle her stumps.
The dismissal took place on the final delivery of the 1st over from Renuka during Pakistan’s innings. Feroza misjudged the line as the inswinger kissed her off-stump. The sweet sound of the timber made the Indian fans at the stadium erupt in joy as Renuka provided the Women in Blue with a perfect start. Feroza was sent back on a duck after facing 4 balls in the match.

Indian bowlers dominate proceedings against Pakistan
Feroza’s early dismissal opened the floodgates as Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals in what was an abysmal start from the Women in Green. Deepti Sharma cleaned up no.3 Sidra Amin cheaply on 8 runs off 11 balls in the 5th over before spinner Arundhati Reddy struck in the 7th over to reduce Pakistan to 33/3.
Reddy got the better of Omaima Sohail, who was dropped by Asha Sobhana on the previous delivery. Sohail was dismissed on just 3 off 6 balls, leaving Pakistan in a spot of bother. However, Pakistan’s miseries didn’t end there as they lost another wicket cheaply to go 4 down on just 41 runs in the 10th over.
Pakistan lost half their side on 52 after Reddy dismissed Aliya Riaz on 4 to bag her second wicket in the game. Indian bowlers dominated the proceedings as Pakistan batters failed to step up under pressure in the high-pressure clash.
