New Delhi: Team India captain Rohit Sharma was spotted doing a Virat Kohli on the field before his side’s victory in the recently concluded 1st Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Rohit was seen cheekily flipping the bails during Bangladesh’s second innings with the hosts just 4 wickets away from victory.
The incident happened during Day 4 of the Chennai Test when Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shato was batting on 76 and producing resistance against the Indian bowlers during the visitors’ mammoth 515-run chase. After the drinks break, Rohit decided to flip the bails when he walked on to the field to take his fielding position.
The Indian skipper also hilariously made a gesture of casting a spell on the stumps as he walked back. The video of the incident caught the eyes of the fans on social media. Notably, Rohit’s teammate and former India skipper Virat Kohli is famous for his bail-changing tricks during Test matches for India. Kohli used to do it as captain when the team was looking for crucial breakthroughs.

The trick did seem to have worked in favour of the Indian team as Bangladesh were quickly bundled out after Rohit’s viral act. Shanto was dismissed on 82 by Ravindra Jadeja as the visitors lost their remaining 4 wickets in quick succession to get skittled out for 234 runs in their second innings and lose the game by a huge margin of 280 runs.
R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja shine in India’s victory
The evergreen pair of Jadeja and R Ashwin starred in India’s thumping victory in Chennai as the duo stole the show with the bat and the ball. Jadeja and Ashwin combined to share a 167-run stand for the 7th wicket to bail India out of trouble in their first innings and helped them post 376 runs on the board from 144/6 at one stage.
Ashwin slammed a brilliant knock of 113 runs while Jadeja scored an impressive 86. Ashwin later we nt on to claim a six-wicket haul in Bangladesh’s second innings while Jadeja picked up a total of five wickets in the two innings combined. The dup picked up nine wickets between them in Bangladesh’s second innings to spin India to a comprehensive victory.
