New Delhi: India finally ended their 11-year-old ICC trophy drought by defeating South Africa by seven runs at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on June 29, Saturday. After winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Kohli, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Axar Patel were seen doing Punjabi folk dance ‘Bhangra’.
Arshdeep and Kohli both danced their heart out together with some funny moves. Substitute players like Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed also joined them on the ground and danced together. All Indian players celebrated the huge win as emotions were very high after the match.
Virat Kohli proved his worth in the final scoring 76 runs off 59 balls. Axar Patel was the surprise package for the Proteas as he was sent at no. 5 position and scored quick-fire 47 runs off 31 balls. India posted an above-par score of 176 runs in 20 overs where bowlers were getting some help from the surface.
In response, South Africa were cruising to the chase but they choked again in the knock-out match. At one time Proteas only required 30 runs in 30 balls with 6 wickets in hand and ultimately lost the match by seven runs. Heinrich Klassen made a brilliant half-century in the high-pressure game scoring 52 runs in just 27 balls but couldn’t finish the game.
Kohli won the Player of the Match award in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.

Kohli announced his retirement from the T20 international Cricket after winning T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli said it’s time for young players to take over T20I cricket from here. Kohli failed in every match before the big final, but he kept his skipper’s faith and ended his T20I career on a high note. Kohli has now completed his ICC trophy cabinet by winning the ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy, Test Mace, and now T20 World Cup trophy.
